Andrew M. Chamberlain and son, Floyd, establish the Peerless Cream Separator Co.

Waterloo Rope Co. is started by Andrew & Floyd (re-named Chamberlain Machine Works)

Perma Power, who produced the first radio-controlled garage door opener (GDO) in 1955, is acquired by Chamberlain.

Nogales, Mexico becomes our new Chamberlain GDO manufacturing facility.

The Duchossios Family becomes the sole owner of the company, officially named The Chamberlain Group.

The 1st patent is obtained by Chamberlain Group for a receiver system. Garage door openers no longer need Dual In-line Package (DIP) switches to set radio codes.

The industry’s 1st wireless keyless entry system is introduced by Chamberlain Group, resulting in easier access for homeowners.

U.S. Congress amends a federal act requiring all residential garage door openers are sold with infrared safety sensors, a life-saving Chamberlain Group invention that becomes standard for all garage door openers nationwide.

Chamberlain Group introduces its line of DC (direct current) motor garage door openers for the first time, resulting in more efficient power consumption and quieter operation.

CG expands into Australia and New Zealand with acquisition of Merlin, leading manufacturer of residential garage door openers and Grifco, leading manufacturer of commercial door operators and automated gates.

CG introduces myQ, a first-of its-kind smart home app that allows users to access and control their garage door, from anywhere.

CG acquires Controlled Products Systems Group, Inc. (CPSG), the leading wholesale distributor of perimeter access control equipment in the US, headquartered in Denver, Colorado.

CG acquires Systems LLC, the leading manufacturer of loading dock equipment in the US, broadening our commercial portfolio to include dock levelers.

CG acquires Lockitron to integrate smart locks into their myQ platform and acquires Tend to begin integrating video into many of its products. CG expands its footprint to Taipei.

Amazon Key is introduced as CG’s first in-garage delivery partner. Walmart+ is announced as second delivery partner in 2022. As of 2023, over 50 million packages have been delivered through In-Garage Delivery with Amazon.

The Duchossois Family sells Chamberlain Group to Blackstone Private Equity to take CG into the next transformational growth phase of the company. myQ Connected Garage, the first vehicle-to-home connectivity solution, is introduced.
